Donor Profile: April Huggler
April Huggler first heard of CARES Northwest almost 15 years ago when she was working at a community health clinic. She occasionally saw our name listed on paperwork, and that was enough to pique her interest to find out more. A simple Google search was all it took for April to learn about our mission and be drawn to supporting our work to end child abuse.
From that introduction, she felt passionately connected to CARES Northwest. She said, “Once I discovered their mission, it was hard to not want to contribute when I was finally financially able.” When she was ready, April became a donor, and has continued donating for 12 years.
Now a mother and a Legacy Health employee, April’s connection to our work is even stronger. “I feel like my contributions are something that my daughter will one day grow to appreciate,” said April noting the importance of philanthropy as a family value and our shared responsibility for creating a community free of abuse.
April chooses to give through a recurring gift, meaning a set amount is automatically debited each month, making her contributions convenient and budget-friendly. “Each year, the decision to continue my recurring donation has been an easy one. CARES Northwest is doing amazing work to take care of kids, and I am proud to support it.”

Recurring gifts in any amount have a consistent, sustainable impact on the children and families served by CARES Northwest. Over the course of a year, recurring gifts can add up to a big impact. Some examples are:
$5 per month could provide journaling supplies to a child in therapy, helping them process their emotions and experiences, which speeds the healing process.
$10 per month could provide emergency clothing and shoes for a child experiencing crisis. CARES Northwest provides children’s clothing when their families have unstable housing or are in transition.
$50 per month could provide a child with an interview to share their experiences or worries with an adult who can help.
$85 per month could provide abuse prevention programming to the staff of a local youth-serving organization.
