Volunteer Your Time
Maybe your gift is working with children, comforting them with a storybook or playing a game of "Go Fish." Maybe you're a behind the scenes person, ready to type, file or pitch in wherever needed. Maybe fundraising is your thing, serving on a committee or chairing an event.
Whatever your passion, CARES Northwest has a spot for you. Whether it's a one-time project or an ongoing commitment, CARES Northwest has a variety of volunteer needs:

Program Volunteers

Child/Family Support Volunteer — Entertain, supervise and keep children company in the waiting area and assist the family with completion of forms, as needed. Bilingual volunteers are highly valued every day of the week; however, more Spanish speaking families are scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Administrative Support Volunteer — Provide basic administrative/clerical support. These positions do not have direct contact with children or families served at CARES Northwest. Work shifts are flexible and time limited.

Event and Special Project Volunteers

Bowl-O-Rama — CARES Northwest's annual black-tie bowling event. Volunteer your services to work the night of the event or become a member of the King Pin committee and help organize the event.

Quilts That Care Luncheon — Serve on the committee for this annual holiday event featuring beautiful hand-made quilts for raffle and auction.

Special Projects — Use your special talents or skills to help CARES Northwest. Opportunities include website design, database development, grant writing, and various one-time office projects. Do you have a special skill or interest? Let us know and we’ll try to match you up with our list of special project needs.

Resource Development Board — Members take an active role in all fundraising and community relations efforts.

Produce an event or activity in your club, school, church or group to benefit the children — CARES Northwest benefits from the support of several groups in the community who produce classic car shows, luncheons, musical events and other activities to raise funds.

For information on these and other volunteer activities, contact Debby Kernan or Liz Burns at 503-276-9000. To get more information about volunteering at CARES Northwest, see Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital.
