CARES logoCARES Northwest is one of five Regional Service Providers (RSP) in the state of Oregon. SAVE THE DATES!

2010 brings a "new look" to our annual CARES Northwest conference, A Clinical Response to Child Abuse. Typically a 2-day conference in the fall, the conference will now be a 1-day training, held 3 times per year. The 2010 dates are February 26, May 21, and, October 8.

The conference agendas for the May and October trainings will be available in April. Sessions will include: neglect, sexualized behavior in children, myths and realities of the medical evaluation, trauma and the brain, Project Ability: Demystifying Disability in Child Abuse Interviewing, and emotional abuse. Several of February's sessions (Talking with Kids, Field Interviews, and The Medical Evaluation of Physical Abuse ) will also be repeated at the October training. Training materials presented at this conference are designed for those who are currently working in the field of child abuse and neglect: medical providers, child interviewers, counselors and social workers, law enforcement officers, case workers and attorneys. Sessions cover the spectrum of child abuse: sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect. Speakers are experts in the field who are familiar with medical practices, forensically sound interviewing, policy and law in the state of Oregon.

Please contact Regional Service Provider Coordinator, Shelley O'Brian, at 503-276-9007 or sobrian@lhs.org if you have training questions.
