SAVE THE DATES!

2011 brings a "new look" to our annual CARES Northwest conference, A Clinical Response to Child Abuse. Typically a 2-day conference in the fall, the conference will now be a 1-day training, held 3 times per year. The next upcoming training will focus on interviewing the adolescent with guest speakers, Martha Finnegan and Katie Connell, of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This training will be held on 04/19/11 in the Lorenzen Center. As well, there will be a break out session in the afternoon for medical providers to review the updated SAFE Kit.

Training materials presented at this conference are designed for those who are currently working in the field of child abuse and neglect: medical providers, child interviewers, counselors and social workers, law enforcement officers, case workers and attorneys. Sessions cover the spectrum of child abuse related to the adolescent including: interrogation vs. interview, compliant victims, presenting physical evidence in the interview, adolescent risk taking behaviors, and human trafficking.

Please contact Regional Service Provider Coordinator, Holly Bridenbaugh, LCSW at 503-276-9039 or hbridenb@lhs.org if you have training questions.
