The children seen at CARES Northwest and at other child abuse intervention programs throughout the nation are some of our most vulnerable citizens. Often, the danger to our children does not lie outside the home but within it. These children need us to work together with the community to stop the cycle of abuse.
If you have immediate concerns about the possible abuse of a child, please call the child abuse hotline in your county (for Multnomah County, call 503-731-3100) or dial 911.
For information about the problem of child abuse, and how to identify and prevent suspected abuse, please visit the web sites listed on our national and local resource pages. These pages can be found under the “Protecting Our Children” menu above.
